PhD in Communication Sciences, by the Universidade do Minho, in 2011, Luís António Santos is a Lecturer in the Institute of Social Sciences and vice-director of the Communication & Society Research Centre.

His research interests focus on the interplay between journalism and digitization. He is a former member of the research projects “NET Station: shaping radio for web environment” and “Media Regulation in Portugal: the ERC’s case”. Before his academic endeavors he has been a journalist for ten years, having worked for Jornal de Notícias, Rádio Press-TSF, Diário de Notícias, TVI, and BBC World Service.
